2020 Black Star Radio and QRAM partnered with Tropical North TAFE to bring the Certificate III in Media to life for people in Yarrabah, Wujal Wujal and Kowanyama.

The Certificate II in Creative Industries allows the learners to develop skills and knowledge to prepare for working in and developing a career in Radio Announcing.  They will develop skills in presenting, collecting and organising content for broadcasting or publication recording and editing sound.


Careers & Pathways

This is a preparatory qualification that can be used as a pathway into CUF30107 Certificate III in Media.


Entry Requirements

Candidates may enter the qualification with limited or no vocational experience and without a relevant lower-level qualification.  Other information 


The program consists of four core units plus two specialist units from the CUF07 Screen and Media Training Package plus two electives from any other currently endorsed Training Package but must be relevant to the work outcome or local industry requirements.

The course will provide participants with basic announcing skills plus experience at presenting radio shows. They will work in the classroom and in a commercial studio. Participants will receive work experience in a live studio and a recording of their work to take away with them for future job prospects.

The qualification reflects the role of a skilled operator in the film, television, radio or digital media industries.
